Who We Are
We work with partnership schools across Leeds, Bradford, Keighley and Craven to provide you with high-quality teacher training. All of our partnership schools are 100% committed to your training, so it really doesn’t make a difference which will be your Home School (where you do the majority of your training) or your Host School (where you have an opportunity to broaden you experience).
Geographically our schools are located close to each other. Our schools provide opportunities for you to excel in exciting, innovative and forward thinking environments to be the best teacher you can be. All of our schools are proud to offer teacher training and are committed to supporting you as a trainee teacher and potentially right through your career with lots of employment opportunities at the end of the programme. We care about you and are determined to provide you with the support and training you need to flourish in your career.
How Placements Work
This course enables you to specialise in either the 3 -7 or the 5 -11 age range. You will be trained in two different schools, however, the structure of the programme will enable you to get to know the whole partnership. This is because your training days are delivered by expert tutors, who are also senior leaders within their schools. Having an opportunity to see practice and meet children in a wide range of schools helps you to reflect on what is going to have the most impact upon your progress towards QTS and employment.

Fees and Financial Support
This programme is a fee-funded route into teaching and fees for the programme are applicable. The fees are £9,535 for both UK and non UK citizens. Graduates applying for initial teacher training (ITT) usually take out a student loan to pay their tuition fees to Exceed SCITT. Many of the trainee teachers on the programme also apply for maintenance loans to support them whilst training. Although there’s a cost, applicants need to consider the starting salary of a teacher is £30,000 and there are many options to secure promotion within a few years of qualifying. The pain of paying a loan is compensated by a good starting salary and a rewarding career.
Trainees need to consider how they transport themselves from their training school to the training venues across either Bradford, Keighley and Craven or Leeds. Some of our SCITT Trainee Teachers often car share, reducing travel costs. Having said this please remember that our partnership of schools are geographically situated close to each other.

Our Stories
Throughout my years in education, I have had many opportunities in a variety of positions, including primary school settings, pupil referral, and special needs schools. As a Level 3 cover supervisor, I relocated to Oakworth Primary School in 2016. A few months later, I applied for the Exceed SCITT program to become a teacher. I never felt alone on my journey because of the SCITT program's exceptional responsiveness and approachability during this time. I gained practical experience in every aspect of teaching and learning. My teaching career has taken off since I finished my training, offering me fresh chances for personal development. I've finished my NPQ in leader teaching development, and I'm now working on my NPQSENDCO.
After completing a degree in Sociology and Criminology, I joined the Exceed SCITT program, eager to pursue a career in teaching. The support and guidance I received throughout the course was exceptional. The expert mentorship and tailored feedback helped me grow as a teacher, boosting my confidence and skills in the classroom. One of the most invaluable experiences was the opportunity to visit other schools, which broadened my perspective and deepened my understanding of diverse teaching practices. Now, as a first-year ECT at Oakworth Primary School, I continue to benefit from excellent mentoring and support through the ECT program, which offers crucial professional support and learning opportunities. The ECT programme has played a pivotal role in my professional development, providing structured learning and reflection. My mentors at Oakworth are fantastic, offering continuous guidance and helping me build on the solid foundation laid during the SCITT program.
